The agriculture industry is important as it provides many things to the public from crops to livestock and food. If you are starting up a small cotton agricultural business and have purchased all the supplies and equipment you need, you need to keep everything organized. Below are two ways you can do this so your company will run much smoother for you.

Fertilizer

You likely have fertilizer, as this is needed for you to have a healthy cotton crop. Even though you are starting out with a smaller cotton crop, you still need to store the fertilizer properly.

If you use granular fertilizer, you need to store the bags in a dry location. This is because the granules absorb moisture from the air, which would cause the granules to cake up and be unusable.

If you have opened bags of fertilizer, store them in a large container. You can purchase heavy duty storage bins that would work great for this purpose. Purchase tight-sealing lids for the container or storage bins to protect the fertilizer.

If you have a lot of fertilizer, it can get heavy. For this reason, purchase storage bins that have casters so you can easily roll the bins instead of having to carry the fertilizer to where you need it. This will save you a lot of time.

Equipment

If you are using a sowing machine to plant your cotton seeds, keep it covered up with a plastic tarp in a covered location, such as a shed, barn, or garage, when it is not in use. Keeping it covered will keep debris, dust, and anything else from getting on it and inside the internal components.

If you have small tools that you use, such as hand rakes and/or shovels, put some sand in a bucket and stick the tools in the sand. This will prevent them from rusting.  For larger tools, such as shovels and rakes, you can hang them on a wall. Purchase some heavy duty peg board, put some hooks in the board, and hang the equipment on the hooks. This will keep them off the floor to keep them protected. It will also keep the area looking clean and organized.

Visit some cotton farms in your area to see how they have everything set up. This will be of big help to you, especially when you start becoming successful and have a much larger cotton crop. For more information, contact a professional in your area or visit a website like http://www.garlandsinc.com.
